Share Your Music and Participate
One: The child, age 12 or under, conceives a melody. The melody can be submitted as a CD recording (either sung or played on an instrument) and/or music notation. Children can have help with music notation, but musical notation is not required. Please note that we will only accept recorded melodies on a CD. Should you have a problem making a CD, please contact us and we will try to find someone in your area to help with the recording.
Two: Fill out the Application and sign the Release and Waiver. Be sure all sections are completed and all signatures are provided. Incomplete applications will not be considered. There is no fee to enter.
Three: Mail the melody recording or composition together with the Application, postmarked no later than March 31, 2011, to Hey, Mozart! New Mexico, PO Box 82743, Albuquerque, NM 87198.
Rules
- Each melody may have only one author. The project does not accept joint submissions.
- Children may submit more than one melody, but each submission must have a separate, fully completed application and parental agreement form.
- Teachers or parents may submit more than one entry on a single CD, but each recording must be preceded by the name, age, city of residence of the child and title of the melody. Please also be sure the child or children’s names are on the CD to avoid confusion.
- Please note that Hey, Mozart! New Mexico is primarily interested in a melody. However, children who have composed an ensemble piece (a melody with harmony parts) are welcome to submit it with the understanding that it is the melody component that will be considered. The harmony parts may or may not be incorporated by the arranger at his/her discretion.
- If a child’s ensemble piece is selected for the Hey, Mozart! New Mexico CD, he or she may have additional musicians perform with him/her at the 2011 concert, provided that the other parts are the child’s independent harmony parts (for example, piano duet, trumpet trio, string quartet). No doubling of the composer’s part will be allowed on the recording or at the concert.
- Mail the score and/or CD with the completed application form postmarked no later than March 31, 2011, to Hey, Mozart! New Mexico, PO Box 82743, Albuquerque, NM 87198.
