Mission

Hey, Mozart! New Mexico provides an opportunity for children throughout New Mexico aged 12 and under to create original melodies, to participate in a professional music enterprise culminating in a CD and live performances, and it promotes music appreciation and education.

Calendar

The difficult economic environment has made it harder and harder for non-profits like Hey, Mozart! to raise sufficient funds to continue operating at our current levels. At the same time the growing success of the child composer project has led to more and more administrative work and higher general costs. As you know much of the administrative work is done by volunteers and that can be difficult to organize effectively. Therefore, the board of Hey, Mozart! New Mexico has decided to hold the competition every two years instead of annually. The "off" year will be used to promote local concerts for the composers.

The next child composer project will have a deadline of March 31, 2013 and will be formally announced in the fall of 2012. We have been so impressed by the talents of New Mexico's kids and regret that we can't continue doing the project on a yearly basis. Hey, Mozart! New Mexico uses teleconferencing for its board meetings so directors do not need to travel to Albuquerque.
